Introduction

Current

Welcome! Rather than tell you about myself, I listed my 3 favorite quotes below and described why they have meaning to me. Enjoy!

Picture of Me

"Please do not be cynical. I hate cynicism. For the record, it's my least favorite quality. It doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and are kind, amazing things will happen. I'm telling you, amazing things will happen." - Conan O'Brien

The perfect pick-me-up quote came as I watched Conan O'Brien's final words as host of the Late Night Show on NBC. He had the carpet pulled from under him in the tough world of show business and still had the strength and humility to understand the importance of the road that life takes us down, good or bad. And what better advice can one give after experiencing hardship than to remember to keep working hard and continuing to be kind and grateful.

"Not making a decision is a decision, and it's typically the wrong one." - Ken Lieberthal

I believe we're all a product of our decisions. Many times I've found myself siding with indecision and have ended up regretting my choice. When I heard this quote during a discussion course at my university, it immidiately struck me as a quote worth abiding by. While I'm still not perfect, I'm much better at setting aside fears of failure or embaressment and making smarter, calculated decisions that have, so far, paid off many times over.

Professional History

Up until March 2012, I worked at MKL Enterprises Ltd in Hong Kong, a company providing global trading services to foreign retailers and distributers looking to manufacture products in China. Specifically, I worked with an American buyer to manufacture over 350 unique items across 3 different factories in Guangdong province. My responsibilities included providing services across the entire supply chain, including product sourcing, prototyping, testing, packaging, quotations, purchase orders and invoices. Responsibilities also included maintaining factory relationships, scheduling factory audits and reviews, and revising buyer's catalog.

Before Hong Kong, I liveded and work in New York City where I was an E-Commerce Sales and Marketing Professional with Shoemania Inc. I was responsible for product placement throughout Amazon's merchant platform, product pricing and weekly promotions. I also oversaw the company's customer service department, helping to resolve issues regarding returns/exchanges, quality control, lost shipments, and inventory.

Before moving to New York, I lived in Seattle, WA where I worked briefly as a Home Theater Specialist in Best Buy. I discovered a new found respect for sales as I was constantly challenged to maintain the delicate balance between providing exceptional customer service and while achieving numerical sales targets passed down from store managers. The art of the sale, is truly an art form. More complicated than any college class I had ever taken but I saw myself improving every day in sales, service, and communication and am therefore grateful for the opportunity to have worked there.

Long Time Ago...

Born near Seattle, WA, I spent 15 years growing up in Hong Kong until graduating from Hong Kong International School in 2004. I was fortunate enough to have traveled throughout Asia and Europe when I was young and no matter the continent and their diverse cultures, an important theme I have come across is the desire for community development, affordable housing, and environmental protection. I graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Political Science and an Environmental Studies minor. Combined with my work experience in marketing and sales, I hope to work for a company with aspirations of making our world a better place, whether it be socially, environmentally, or both.
